What was the major reason for the loss of Kauravas against Pandavas?

Kauravas, inspite of the presence of the towering Bheeshmacharya, Guru Dronacharya, Warrior and Duryodhana's best friend Karna and many other great warriors, lost the epic battle. Waiting for some interesting answers for this question.

The warriors who were fighting for the Kauravas were all forced to participate. They never had any good wishes or the urge to fight for the Kauravas. Rather they had soft corner for their opponent party. No wonder they had to lose the battle, but the reason for being able to fight so long was their personal ego, otherwise the battle would have ended the day it had started.

Yeah you are correct anweshablogs. But i need a more specific answer like the curse to Karna, Bheeshma's sacrifice, etc.

Yeah that needs quite a detail and the answer will be pretty long. Almost as long as the entire Mahabharat. I don't think this is the proper platform to answer that serious an answer with such long details. That needs an entire blog.

Interesting. I thought only Bheeshm, Dronachary and Kripachary were unwilling partners. After all every body was given freedom to change sides before the war and Yuyutsu switched from Kauravas to Pandavas side. But I might be wrong.

So Certified Noob.... you mean to say Bheeshmacharya, Dronacharya and Krupacharya were responsible for the loss?

Everybody was free to change the sides apparently, but apart from Yuyutsu, nobody could, because they had their own obligations. Even Karna lost the spirit, after knowing that he was the elder brother of the Pandavas.

Anweshablogs..... I think Karna's act was justified as participating in the war in favour of the Kauravas was the best he could do to return the favours given to him by Duryodhana.....

No Ramkey, I did not mean that. They were just unwilling. But they gave their best which was not enough to defeat Pandavs.

Certified Noob. Bheeshma promised in the open court that he wont kill the Pandavas since they were also his grandchildren. But what would have happened if not for that promise?

I doubt if Bheeshm would have been able to kill Arjun or Bheem and other Pandavs were great warriors too. Arjun was too good for anyone and IMHO Indians underrate him a lot.

Now what would have happened is not the question raised here. It is just a trial to find out the reason, why Kauravas lost the war. One more reason might be because there were no celestial beings fighting for them.

Certified Noob. Bheeshma was regarded as the best warrior in the world and its very difficult to match his skills. But yes, it is meaningless to talk about what had not happened but I think Bheeshma's oath was one of the huge setbacks for Kauravas.

Pandavas had the best fighters on the earth in the form of Arjun and Bheem. They had the master tactician in form of Krishn. There seems to be misconception that Karn was better than Arjun. But Arjun had defeated Karn more than once . Also Pandavas were fighting for a righteous cause. Arjun and Krishn were master vyuh destroyers. They could  break through almost any military formations.
    Just my 2 paise .

Saguni in the Kauravas camp was also a clever tactician. But I think you meant justice was on the side of Pandavas and so Lord Krishna himself supported them.... Isnt?????

AFAIK, Arjun and Krishn was the duo who could break any vyuh created by anyone and formation of vyuhs(formations like chakravyuh etc) was a major part of military tactics. And yes, Pandav were fighting for a just cause.Sorry, only 250 chrtrs allowed.

Because in the end, 'Truth always prevails.' This is the belief of every religion, mythology, country or culture. No doubt 'Truth' has to pass through many trials and hardships , but every righteous person believes in this philosophy that the path of Truth' is the right path. If a wrong has been done to someone, it results in 'bad karma' and for that a price has to be paid, sooner or later.
According to the teachings of 'Srimadbhagwatgeeta', we are all part of the 'Supreme' and each one of us are guided by our  good soul or our  bad soul. It is up to us to choose whether we follow the right path and earn good karma or follow the wrong path and earn a bad karma and face the consequences.
The Kauravas followed the later knowing pretty well what would be the outcome of the war.

I fully agree with you. But can you please specify your answer in terms of war happenings?
